About Dr. Anthony A. Romeo

Anthony A. Romeo, MD is an internationally recognized orthopedic surgeon specializing in shoulder, elbow, and sports medicine. Double board-certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine, he has spent more than 25 years advancing patient care through clinical excellence, research, education, and innovation.

Throughout his career, Dr. Romeo has treated patients ranging from active individuals and high school athletes to NCAA competitors, professional athletes, Major League Baseball players, and Olympians. His approach combines the latest evidence-based techniques with personalized treatment plans designed to restore function, relieve pain, and help patients return to the activities they enjoy.

Dr. Romeo currently serves as a shoulder and elbow surgeon at Romeo Orthopaedics, is a member of the Major League Baseball Research Committee, and is the Chief Medical Editor of Orthopedics Today. He has also held several distinguished leadership positions, including Executive Vice President of the Musculoskeletal Institute at Duly Health and Care, Chief of Orthopaedics at Rothman Orthopaedics, and Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Romeo spent nearly two decades at Rush University Medical Center, where he served as Section Head of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, Program Director of the Shoulder & Elbow Fellowship, Senior Attending Physician, and Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery.

He also served as a team physician for the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bulls, and later the Philadelphia Phillies, providing orthopedic care for elite athletes at the highest levels of competition.

Dr. Romeo's contributions to orthopedic medicine extend well beyond the operating room. He has authored more than 500 peer-reviewed scientific publications, published six textbooks, holds seven medical patents, and has delivered more than 400 scientific lectures in recent years. He also serves as an editor and reviewer for multiple leading orthopedic journals, helping shape research and clinical practice worldwide.

A respected leader within the orthopedic community, Dr. Romeo is a Past President of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons and is actively involved in numerous national and international professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Association, Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS).
