Dr. Matthew Shirley is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in adult hip and knee reconstruction, joint replacement, and orthopedic trauma. Guided by the patient-first philosophy he developed during his residency at the Mayo Clinic, he is committed to delivering personalized, evidence-based care that helps patients regain mobility and improve their quality of life.
Dr. Shirley believes that surgery should only be recommended when it is truly necessary. He emphasizes conservative treatment options whenever possible, developing individualized care plans designed to relieve pain and restore function without an operation. When joint replacement becomes the best solution, he utilizes advanced surgical techniques, including robotic-assisted and augmented reality-guided procedures, to improve precision and support successful long-term outcomes.
His clinical expertise includes both primary and complex revision procedures involving the hip and knee. Dr. Shirley has advanced fellowship training in managing failed joint replacements, revision hip and knee arthroplasty, and periprosthetic fractures, allowing him to treat patients with challenging reconstructive needs.
