
Dr. Rowland B. Mayor, MD, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery, and the treatment of shoulder and knee injuries in both adult and pediatric patients. He has extensive experience in minimally invasive procedures, ligament and cartilage injuries, and reconstructive surgery designed to restore joint function and help patients safely return to sports and everyday activities.
Dr. Mayor earned his undergraduate degree from Yale University, graduating Magna Cum Laude, before conducting research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). He then received his Doctor of Medicine from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. His postgraduate training included a general surgery internship and an orthopaedic surgery residency at Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. He further advanced his expertise by completing a fellowship in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery at Tufts–New England Medical Center in Boston.
Throughout his career, Dr. Mayor has combined clinical practice with research and medical education. His work in sports injury research earned him the prestigious O'Donoghue Sports Injury Research Award from the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM). He has also served on the clinical faculty at the Yale School of Medicine, contributing to the education and training of future orthopaedic surgeons.
Dr. Mayor is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and remains committed to delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care. His approach focuses on helping patients recover from injury, regain mobility, and return to the activities they enjoy through personalized treatment plans and advanced orthopaedic techniques.
